This page explains how Age Concern Business Directory Limited (ACBD) uses any information you provide on the ACBD website, and the ways in which we protect your privacy.

The Data Protection Act

ACBD is registered to collect and process personal data under the Data Protection Act 1998. Under this Act, we have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you. We use appropriate technologies to safeguard your data, and keep strict security standards to prevent any unauthorised access to it. We do not pass on your details to any third party where you indicate that you do not wish this to happen.

We may, however, disclose your personal information if required to do so by law or in good-faith believing such action is necessary to comply with the law.

What information do we collect?

We use customer contact information from the optional user registration application to send messages to you about products and services provided by advertisers on this site, together with information on behalf of Age Concern charities.

We use "session cookies" on our website, which store some of your "preferences" while you move around the site (like font sizes). Cookies are pieces of data created when users visit a website. You can set your computer not to accept cookies. Session cookies are deleted when you leave the site. They do not contain any personal information about users, and do not hold any information about which sites you visited before the ACBD website.

We collect log file information from all our visitors, which we use to make changes to the layout of the site and to the information in it, based on the way visitors move around it. Log files allow us to record visitors' use of the site. Our hosting provider, Visav, uses the log file information to provide us with website usage information.
